The Sunset Special - Ex1

As an extension of the film, the installation forms the place where the product enters the private space. It is the perspective of the consumer, the intact illusory world, the intrusion of privacy. The imagery of the film gives way to the representation of the perfect product. The screen plays a constant stream of tropical travel paradise images. The VR-experience lead through a high-resolution 3D rendered holiday resort featured by The Sunset Special.
Next to the living area there is the exhibition area in which the "travel offers" are presented. Three digital picture frames show abstract special offers, travel options, life plans. The boundaries between the private and the public are blurring. The way of presentation through the banners, photo frames and pedestals creates a strong contrast between the living area and the product and makes the otherwise concealed invasion of privacy spatially visible.
The exhibition expands in an interactive online format,
that connects the overlapping narratives within The Sunset Special. It is conceived as a VR experience, but is just as viewable on desktop computers or mobile phones. It is a virtual meeting spot, an event space and a place for interaction with The Sunset Special.
