The Sunset Special
is an ongoing audiovisual universe by Nicolas Gebbe, centered around an animated short-film series. It explores how social media, advertising and new technologies distort reality, shaping desires, memories and fantasies. Linking these distortions to nostalgia, longing and wanderlust, the project deconstructs the perfectly customized digital products: The unique trip, the perfect partner, the ideal life. Set in a world of travel and abundance, The Sunset Special plays with the glossy surfaces of these promises and then cracks them open to reveal what lies beneath.
